Banner : Maruti Talkies
Producer : Maruthi and Sudarshan Reddy
Director : J. Prabhakar Reddy
Genre : Comedy/Thriller
Star-cast : Sudheer Babu , Nandita , Praveen , Giri and others
Rating : 3.25 / 5
Maruthi ,who came to lime-light with his films like Bus-stop and Erojullo had come up with yet another project named "Prema Katha Chitram". This movie is directed by J Prabhakar Reddy under the supervision of Maruthi.
Story :
Sudheer (Sudheer Babu), Nandita, Praveen joined by Saptagiri go to a farm house (which has an haunted history) to commit suicide. In the house, they reveal their reasons for commiting the suicide. Having moved by the simple reason of Nandita, all the 3 decide to postpone their suicide for 4 days. In the mean time, Sudheer and Nandita develop strong affinity against each other. Sudheer, though he is attracted to Nandita, still sticks to his plan and decides to commit suicide. In order to stop Sudheer, Praveen encourages him to physically intimate with Nandita. When he tries to touch Nandita, Sudheer experiences a sudden jolt. What happened to Sudheer ? Why did he experience such sudden jolt ? How did they come out of that haunted house ? forms the rest of the story.
Pro's :
Sudheer Babu has shown a lot of maturity as an actor when compared to his previous film SMS. By seeing his dance moves, we can say that finally, a dancer had come from the Superstar family.
Nandita, a debutant will definitely grab your eyeballs with her distinctive characterisation. She looks very promising and had all the qualities to become the top actress. She definitely deserves a pat on her back for being playing her role excellently, though it has two shades.
The movie has some hilarious comedy in form of Praveen and Saptagiri. Giri entertains the audience with his unique comedy timing and humour.
Con's :
Director lacks his wit in making the first half gripping. Even though the film has some Horror, it does not make any impact on the audience.
JB's music is ok.
Technicalities :
Cinematography by J Prabhakar Reddy is admirable. It gives us haunting feel and tint underneath our skin in some scenes.
JB's background score is laudable.
Dialogues by Maruthi were good even though some of them have double-entendre.
Editing is nice.
Verdict :
Prema Katha Chitram is definitely a paisa vasool entertainer. The film has to be watched for its sheer entertainment. For all those who want to experience some horror mix of comedy, this film is surely a worth-watch.
